BSI Rigging on Lady LaurenFor more than 29 years, BSI A/S has been in the vanguard of precision manufacturing for the marine industry, selling products through a worldwide network of distributors. In 1999, CEO Carsten Friis, Sales Director Eric Quorning and Production Director Poul Bek purchased the company and embarked on a period of substantial growth and innovation.

BSI A/S has provided rod rigging to superyacht builders for more than a decade, and has demonstrated a commitment to growth and investment with a series of strategic acquisitions. Recognizing the potential growth in the superyacht market, BSI A/S in 2005 acquired Global BSI, a company respected throughout the industry for designing and manufacturing custom rigging systems featuring high-strength stainless steel alloys. In 2006, BSI A/S announced the acquisition of OYS Service Inc., and renamed the company Global Rigging Service Inc. Global RSI rounds of the superyacht rigging segment by providing annual maintanence, inspections and refit services worldwide.

Today, BSI A/S employs more than 130 people of 8 nationalities worldwide and has annual group sales of �16 million with headquarters and production facilities in Haderslev, Denmark; and sales-, service- and distribution facilities in West Palm Beach, Florida; Portsmouth, Rhode Island; and Trumbull Connecticut. BSI A/S' state-of-the-art engineering and manufacturing facility in Haderslev, Denmark spans apprx. 6000m2 with another 2000m2 scheduled for completion in december 2007.

Fork terminalBSI A/S is committed to a long-term strategy of growth and reinvestment in automation technology. Research, design, engineering, FEA (Finite Element Analysis) and manufacturing are all executed in-house. BSI A/S continues to make significant investments in advanced CnC equipment and tooling, including CAD-design capabilities utilizing AutoCAD, Inventor and Mechanical Desktop software, and ANSYS for finite element analysis work. Break-load testing is done in-house with up to 21-ton bench test maschines while Hertz fatigue tests are undertaken by an independent authorized insitute enabling certified test results. In addition BSI A/S employs apprx. 35 CnC turning and milling machines, resulting in the ability to provide complex hard-to-machine components in all high-strength alloys. BSI A/S is renowned for its ability to rapidly to deliver turn-key design and manufacturing processes for its diverse customer base.

It is BSI A/S' customer-driven management structure that makes product innovation a hallmark. Engineering is a vital part of the sales division; under the capable direction of Eric Quorning and Ulf Josefsson the team works closely with customers to create ground breaking, lightweight products with an emphasis on minimalist aestetics.

Today BSI A/S holds patents, trademarks and design protections for a number of products. BSI A/S' patented Twin Tang was awarded a DAME Special Mention in the deck equipment, sail and rigging category at METS in 2000.

BSI A/S has been audited and was found to be in accordance with the ISO 9001 standard by Bureau Veritas and thus received�ISO 9001 certification november 2005. BSI A/S is still today the only superyacht rigging manufacturer that is ISO 9001 certified, ensuring full traceability from design and engineering through manufacturing to final product.
