High Performance Sheaves
All sheaves are machined from Ertalyte:- a tough self lubricating man made material equally at home with wire, spectra, kevlar or standard polyester ropes.

Machine Formed Taper
Topmast response is vital to performance, and Selden's automated taper forming processguarantees the lightest, most durable, and most consistent masthead available. Tapers are cut by machine to precision jigs, ensuring a continuous and identical bend characteristic from every tube of that section. Tapers are pressed using our own 100 tonne press with accurate press tools for each section, again ensuring absolute consistency.Tapers are continuously welded using an automatic process. This means that heat put into the topmast is kept to a minimum giving the material maximum strength and durability for a long mast life and reliable performance. Additionally this process eliminates the need for the weld to be sanded externally which is a source of inconsistency with other methods.Heat treatment of all tubes is done in our own thermostatically controlled oven to ensure the ultimate materials properties every time.

Fitting Detailing
All fittings are positioned to take maximum advantage of individual class rules. For low windage and durability we use tee terminals with backplates for shroud and trapeze attachment.

Strong Jib Box
Jib box is an innovative hook-in design, which transfers loads to the mast independently of the fixings for reliability in extreme conditions. Complex design ensures that the slot width is kept to a minimum for maximum tube strength, while still allowing a ferrule to pass over the sheave for 2:1 jib halyard systems.

Adjustable Spreader System
The Selden spreader system is unique in allowing precise adjustment of spreader angle and length, giving you maximum tuning potential. The standard system gives rigid inversion protection, and turnbuckle limited swing options are available.

Ball Sheaves
For slick spinnaker work all spi. halyard and pole lift sheaves are ball bearing as standard.

Stainless Steel Gooseneck
For strength and durability, gooseneck backplate is investment cast stainless steel as standard.

Heel Plug
Heel plug is plian tenon or three sheave, depending on class recommendation.
