Masts & Rigging

offer upgrades from earlier selden systems (or indeed other manufacturers) to the latest selden line drive furling systems as detailed below.

In-mast furling

Furlin' is the Seldén in-mast mainsail reefing system. Furlin allows for easy sail handling from the safety of the cockpit and removes the necessity to go forward for the reefing and stowing of sails. With only a few control lines, smaller crews can sail larger yachtcs. Upgrading to a powered system, in either hydraulic or electric gives simply, 'push button' sailing.

Seldén offers two types of in-mast mainsail reefing systems. There is the Furlin' range and the Furlex Main the retro-fit system for converting conventional masts.

The finesse of the Furlin' Hydraulic 'Built-In' is for all to see. Especially for the largest sections, it gives a perfectly clear and uncluttered look to the spar. All the hydraulic components are hidden inside the mast.

Hoist the mainsail only once a season. Benefit from instant sail stowage for clear vision when berthing, but moreover, enjoy easy mainsail setting and reefing due to a number of innovative friction saving design features;

Offset mast aperture allows the sail to naturally roll onto the internal luff spar foil.

Asymmetric internal foil allows the first rolls of the mainsail to smoothly and perfectly lay onto the internal luff spar.

Tensioned luff spar with top and bottom ball-raced bearings.

Patented "Load Distributor" halyard swivel to give an even bearing loading from the halyard tension.

Geared 'Line-Driver' furling control mechanism so that even less effort is needed to furl and reef.

Furlin' with hydraulic drive

Seldén's hydraulically driven furling systems have been specifically developed to enhance the enjoyment of sailing larger craft and can be accommodated fir use in the Furlin' mast sections for boats 40ft - 70ft. Furlin' Hydraulic means that your mainsail can be operated with push buttons from the safety of the cockpit.
