20m Ketch

allspars have just returned from a week in Cyprus, where the masts were stepped on a 20m ketch.

Remember the masts we mentioned here

Well they are now up!!

3 members of the allspars team flew out to Cyprus last week to unpack, join, dress step and tune the masts for a 70 tonne 20m ketch.

Both masts were hydraulic in mast furling masts, the main mast also carried a hydraulic Furlex 500, all of this had to be constructed on the owners 250ft barge, before the largest crane in Cyprus came along to step the masts. All of the rigging had left our workshop in Plymouth overlength, so once the chainplates had been installed, this could be cut to length and fitted with Norseman terminals.

Once both masts were up, and the new sails had been fitted, the boys were then forced to go on a test sail.......What a hard life they lead!!!
