Selecting Your Ronstan Rigging System

  1. Determine the most suitable tendon medium for the application. ie. cable or rod.
  2. Select the diameter of the tendon that will match the load requirements, allowing an appropriate factor of safety. Refer to load selection for wireand rod.
  3. Determine whether the system needs to be fixed or adjustable.
  4. Select and specify the appropriate end fittings.
  5. Calculate the final tendon lengths, allowing for tensioning with wire fittings two thirds open and rod fittings in the mid-range position. This will ensure adequate adjustment is available in both directions. Length of cable or rod should be measured centre of pin to centre of pin or centre of eye to centre of eye etc.
  6. Contact your local Ronstan Representative for assistance and advice.

THREADED ROD SYSTEMS

Stainless Steel rod is available in standard lengths of up to 3.6m (12 ft). Rod joiners couple rods where longer lengths are required and Seafastturnbuckles can be used for additional tension where required. Lengths up to 6m (19 ft) can be arranged upon request for larger orders. Stainless Steel rod is available in corrosion resistant marine grades 304 and 316, in standard bright drawn, high quality centerless ground, or hand polished for the ultimate in aesthetic finish. All Ronstan threads are rolled onto, rather than cut into fittings and rods, to give maximum strength and fatigue resistance.
