Update
The Seldén 2229 Europe boom is first choice for
sailers and boatbuilders alike. 2229 was designed
specifically around Europe class rules to give the
best combination of light weight and high vertical
stiffness possible.
During 1999 we completely revised the specification
of the inboard end, in accordance with recent class
rule changes. The inboard end now accepts a standard
size bolt, and a stop is fitted at the outboard
end to prevent the foot being pulled beyond the
black band.
We are in close contact with the Europe class association,
and with ISAF, to ensure that as soon as the class
serial number system is in operation, we will be
able to supply newly built booms with the correct
documentation.
The Seldén Europe kicker lever has also been improved
utilising higher-grade aluminium giving greater
stiffness and durability.

Why Seldén?
Choose a Seldén mast and you will find many performance
enhancing features unique to our products, for example:
- The Seldén tapering system ensures that
our tapers are minimum size and weight. This gives
low windage, centre of gravity and topmast weight.
This maximises your speed by enabling the topmast
to react quickly to gusts and waves giving better
acceleration, a smoother ride upwind and, ultimately,
more races won!
- Automated welding keeps excess heat out
of the taper for guaranteed consistency and performance.
The weld produced is so perfect that there is
no need to mechanically grind the weld (which
can induce inconsistencies). This means that once
we have finalised a winning design, you can be
sure that your spar will perform identically to
the champions.
- All masts are heat treated in our purpose-designed
oven. This artificial hardening ensures that you
get maximum performance from the high performance
aluminium alloy.
- Our spars pass through a purpose-developed
bead-peening machine. This gives the mast
a perfect satin finish that dramatically improves
fatigue properties, giving you a mast that will
perform reliably for many years.
- Top quality fittings such as our fully
adjustable spreader bracket and highly durable
cast gooseneck ensure speed and reliability on
the racecourse.

Boom Specification
The Seldén Europe boom is manufactured from extruded
and anodised 6000 series aluminium, for high stiffness,
maximum strength, and long term durability. Your
Seldén Europe boom will therefore not only out perform
the competition, it will continue to do so for many
years.
Inboard end is also a high quality aluminium extrusion,
boom sliders are stainless steel and designed to
allow mainsheet blocks to be directly attached with
no need for shackles.
Booms are available with three sliders, for cascade
kicker systems, or with two sliders plus a stainless
steel bearing system for lever kicker systems.
