SWAN 40 - Completed Job

Originally we were approached by a gentleman at the Southampton Boat Show, he had a Swan 40 which had been sat ‘on the hard’ having been dismantled about eight years previous. When we were approached by the customer he was not entirely sure what rigging and fittings were left on the boat, as it had been stripped by a number of different companies over the years. After a thorough Allspars rig check, it turned out half of the rigging had been lost and much of what was left was unusable.

We worked with the owner and a number of manufacturers across Europe who we have a great working relationship with to draw up a final list of parts required to complete the job. Once the parts were sourced and safely with us, we manufactured in house a complete new set of rod rigging, and some parts which had to be custom made in our workshop as the originals were no longer available to purchase.

The mast was unstepped and driven to Allspars Plymouth for a full birthday / mast service and rework, where necessary modernising some of the fittings. Once the mast work was completed we loaded it onto our trailer and took it back to its berth for stepping. After a complete hydraulic service across the whole boat, our job was done and we left the customer with a boat ready for sailing.

The customer made it clear from the outset that he wanted to use his boat and Allspars had been recommended as the company to make that happen with the expertise and contacts to do it. He was not disappointed and after a season of use reported back that he was enjoying his sailing.
